For this week,I've learned the important principles underlying successful Bilingual Education. If we want the Bilingual Education to become successful, we should do the following things:
(1) Give learners comprehensible input and sufficient knowledge of background.
(2) Second language acquisition is beneficial to development of literacy
These principles are the same as principles underlying successful language acquisition.
Also, one of the most salient features of a bilingual education program is the use of one's first language.
The use of the first language is beneficial to:
(1) supplying comprehensible input
(2) enhancing the development of basic literacy and advanced literacy( the ability to use language, such as oral, written and solving problems).
